Manor Profile
Portchester, Hampshire· Portsdown Hundred· 1230 – 1556
Also known as: Wiccor, Wykes, Wicor
Wyker was a sub-manor within the parish of Portchester. It was likely among the Portchester lands granted to Titchfield Abbey c.1230 following Peter des Roches' transfer. The abbey held it as the "manor of Wykes in Portchester" until the Dissolution.
In 1550 the manor was granted to Thomas, Earl of Southampton, for life. On his death it reverted to the Crown. In 1556 it was granted to John White of Southwick, and thereafter followed the descent of Southwick manor.
