Manor Profile
Titchfield, Hampshire· Titchfield Hundred· 1272 – 1762
Also known as: Quabbe, Quabbe Farm
In the reign of Edward I, Emma de Roches granted her son Hugh the land of Quabbe in the parish of Titchfield. The lords of North Fareham held this property in the thirteenth century (VCH Hampshire Vol. 3, pp. 220-233).
Sir Richard Pexall, described as a descendant of Hugh, died seised of lands in Quabbe in 1571. His grandson Sir Pexall Brocas held the same in 1610. Thomas Brocas possessed it in 1635, when it was for the first time termed a manor (VCH Hampshire Vol. 3, pp. 220-233).
Certainly as late as 1762 the lords of North Fareham received one pound yearly as lords' rent from Quabbe Farm, which had evidently become merged in the manor of North Fareham (VCH Hampshire Vol. 3, pp. 220-233).
